Lane Community College Career Fair (April 18, 2012)
Attending was Jeff Baird (KEUG/KMGE Program Director)
Internship
This internship during the period of May 30th – June 7th 2012 was designed to assist a member of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment. The intern was a high school student active at his school’s radio station, KRVM FM. This internship was structured to provide relevant information in all areas of MRB’s
broadcasting operations, including sales, programming, commercial production, and
general management. MRB personnel who participated in this internship were John Tilson, President and General Manager, Bruce Soderholm, production Manager, Bill Barrett, Tim Fox & Tracy Berry, KKNU Morning Show Personalities, Danielle Uhlhorn, Account Executive, Dave Wiles, Sales Manager, Jeff Baird Program Director, KEUG and KMGE, Liz Kelly and Mary Reilly, KMGE Morning Show personalities, Melissa Harrison, Traffic Manager, Brenda Buck, Accounts Receivable Manager, and Erin Massingham, Promotions Director.
Scholarship Programs
MRB management participated actively in the award of three Eugene Area Radio Stations (“EARS”) Scholarships announced in June, 2012. This scholarship program is designed to assist students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting. These $3,000 scholarships were awarded to three college bound high school students.
MRB’s involvement included a leadership role by MRB President and General Manager John Tilson and MRB Sales Manager Dave Wiles in successfully advocating, planning for, and implementing all of these scholarships. Mr. Tilson was the EARS Treasurer during the entire 2011/2012 EEO reporting year and was a member of the scholarship committee. The Unit stations also contributed air-time, which resulted in cash contributions for these EARS scholarships. As part of the Non-Commercial Sustaining Announcements (‘NCSA”) Program, EARS sells announcements at steep discounts to non-profit organizations and the Unit stations, along with other EARS members, run spot schedules for the non-profit advertisers.
